Our story
begins with our grandmother
One evening sat around the dinner table, Māma - our grandmother, began to tell us about the years she spent weaving in China. It was a craft she had mastered long before any of us were born, and one none of us had known she carried.
Craft had run through our family for generations, unspoken.
nuãei grew out of that evening, out of a wish to keep her story and craft alive.

Three different materials, one craft.
Handwoven Leather
Full grain leather, braided entirely by hand, supple enough to weave, sturdy enough to hold its shape, and only more beautiful the longer you carry it.
Mendong
A soft, straw like fibre, woven with full grain leather. The fibre keeps it featherlight, the leather holds its shape, and it lasts for years to come.
Rattan
The weave that inspired it all. Rattan grows wild in the Indonesian rainforest, harvested and woven by hand - a renewable vine.

nuãei is the new collection from the family of Wicker Wings. The same small batch craftsmanship trusted by thousands of customers over ten years.
